This talk will take a deep look at the legal issues that create differences and similarities between DAOs and traditional companies. We will look at organizational issues as well as the critical question of when governance tokens for DAOs may be treated as “securities”. The history of business organizations in the U.S. has been a constant march toward enhanced flexibility and innovative mechanism design. We will look at this through legal lines and make observations about the potential for the future of DAOs.

Liberland Metaverse is founded by a joint venture between the Free Republic of Liberland, Zaha Hadid Architects, Mytaverse, and ArchAgenda. It was established in 2015 on terra nillius between Croatia and Serbia, along the Danube River. Liberland has over 780,000 citizenship applicants, and a robust new E-residency program that is attracting cutting edge web3 and blockchain-based companies.

We will cover the current state of DAO tooling - From payroll solutions, treasury management, messaging/social management, voting, gate-keeping and organizing. I’ll also cover several DAO structures and legal structures. Then we will peel out into future on what DAOs will look like and the platforms they will be using (hint: some are built right now, and some haven’t even been thought about!).
